Epping · Reservoir, VIC — after hours answered
Something is leaking right now.
Ring rather than write — a form does not wake anyone up. If you can, turn the water off first. The four steps below take a minute and they decide how much damage this does.
0407 684 723Before we get there
Four things to do in the next sixty seconds.
01
Stop the water
Your main tap is usually at the front boundary, near the water meter. Turn it clockwise until it stops. If the leak is one fixture, there is often a small isolating tap under it.
02
Kill the power to it
If water is anywhere near a light fitting, a power point, or the switchboard, turn the circuit off at the board before you go near it.
03
Hot water: shut the inlet
A leaking tank has its own isolating valve on the cold inlet at the top of the unit. Close that and the tank stops refilling itself onto your floor.
04
Then call
Tell us what you can see and what you have already turned off. It decides what we put on the van.
Not sure where your main tap is? Here is how to find it — worth doing on a dry day.
When we arrive
Same order, every time.
01
Stop the damage
Water off, appliance isolated, whatever is running gets stopped first. Everything else waits until it has.
02
Find the actual cause
Not the wet patch — the source. On a leak that means looking before opening, because water travels along joists before it shows.
03
Tell you the price
Before the repair starts, not after it finishes. If opening it up changes the picture, we stop and talk to you.
04
Make it safe tonight
Some jobs finish on the spot. Some need a part. Either way you do not get left with water running — you get told plainly which one you are in.
